  • A Classical Education

There isn’t much I remember about my own education… a large, red grammar book; dissecting a shark; accidentally calling a teacher Daddy instead of Mr. Adkins. (Forever one of my most embarrassing moments.) My school days were a mixed bag of options: public school in elementary, homeschool and public school in middle, and a blend…

This is how it all started…

Hi there! I’m Christina: wife, mom, and lover of Jesus. Books are my jam, especially if I can relax in the hammock or beside a body of water with them.

I have learned many things about myself through the years since I first wrote a blog post:

#1- I struggle with consistency.

#2- Living a chemical-free and natural lifestyle is extremely important to me, but so is balance. My husband says I’m crunchy, but you aren’t going to catch me with dreds or bamboo underpants.

#3- My parenting is far from perfect, but it the absolute best thing the Lord has called me to do.

#4- Homeschooling isn’t just something I do, it’s my passion.

#5- Intentional contentment with my home starts with sorting out what overwhelms me and eliminating it where I can.

I’m married to my Music Man, Dustin. We have three amazing kids, Lane, Cora, and Hazel; we homeschool using the classical model with Classical Conversations. We love Jesus, adventures, and we’re all suckers for a really great sushi or bbq joint.

Our family was able to take an incredible vacation to Alaska in the summer of 2018, and it was a paradigm shift for me. I have been on a journey of natural health and wellness for some time now, with a focus on simplicity and {occasionally} minimalism. A month in Alaska taught me so much about what my desires for my life, my family, and my story really are. This blog is a way to express those desires and to catalog our journey to an abundant, intentional, CLASSICAL life that is centered around HOME.

Being HOME for the last two decades has been a blessing, but foregoing a second income has caused us to prioritize what we spend our time and money on. My house isn’t at all Pinterest-worthy, but I have focused on making sure it’s full of warmth and love. Rarely is every room put together and completely tidy, but I’m learning to find rest even when things aren’t picture perfect.

It’s my hope that these pages can be used to inspire others to overcome the current cultural mindset about the home.. We believe that the Lord has called us to do many things that seem strange in the light of the culture we live in: a smaller home than what we could “afford”, keeping our children home to educate them classically, Mom giving up a “career” in order to stay home.

In all, we are a “Home-ly” family. Come join us.
